Saturday, 9 March 2024 from 9.30am to 4.30pm in Rochestown Park Hotel, Cork. Cost: €95 includes notes, resources and 6 hours CPD.
In this 6-hour skills training, qualified supervisors will discuss, reflect, and learn how to enhance clinical supervision through a skills-based model in clinical excellence and supervisory competencies.
The Master Class parallels the common factors in psychotherapy with a strong focus on interpersonal, experiential and relational skills, including the working alliance, empathy, and responsiveness. The core learning develops competent communities through peer support via “live supervision”, reflective practice, collaborative inquiry, and self-management.
Multiple themes will be explored, including the supervisory relationship, supervisee needs, personal values, learning preferences, core training, biases, boundaries, ethical and legal issues.
Supervision in this approach focuses on the same fundamental principles as psychotherapy through developing the working alliance (relationship, approach, goals) with specific supervisory tasks. Common issues in clinical management will be addressed, including ambiguity about roles, misunderstandings related to cultural background, skill deficits, countertransference, risks, legal and ethical issues. The training will include best practices for establishing an online clinical supervision presence and working with students, pre-accredited therapists, and experienced therapists.
The Supervision Masterclass is for experienced, post-graduate clinical supervisors interested in reflecting and learning about the advantages and disadvantages of different models of supervision. Throughout the Masterclass workshop, you will learn about supervisory processes and determine the model or interventions that best suits you to facilitate competent clinical supervision. Experiential role plays, deliberate practice via rehearsal, bilateral feedback brings this supervision format “to life” as a crucible to enhance personal and professional growth.
